Admiral in the Alabama Navy

During a tour of the South, I presented my
after-dinner talk to an audience that included a number of
Senators. They enjoyed my speech so much that they went
back into session and made me an Honorary Admiral in their
Navy! A Navy with no ships - I just love this country!

Under an antiquated law (created when Charles II banged his
head on a ship's low roof!) naval officers do not need to stand
up when toasting the Monarch. This gives my Scot's blood
endless enjoyment at formal dinners when the loyal toast is
called!

PS - It should be noted that I am not the first Scottish Admiral of an American Fleet. Indeed, the US Navy was started by a Scot - John Paul Jones. He uttered those famous words on whisky 'I have not yet begun to drink!'

And recently, the good ol' boys in Kentucky, in recognition of my continuous adoration of  my favourite bourbon (the 108 proof 'Rare Breed' Wild Turkey) asked the Governor to make me a Kentucky Colonel!! I love the South!

Fellow Colonels include Winston Churchill, President Lyndon Johnston and Tiger Woods!
