Inner Heuch - Heuch wi' Pride!

How's it hangin'? My name is Gregor McEwan and I'm a Jock in a Frock who heuchs wi' pride!

"The Great Highland Heuch is a loud and thrilling guttural noise - a blood-curdling, snot-slinging scream that puts fear in the hearts of men who have not learned to express themselves, and a warning to all English blood to rush to the feet and start running!"
                        Sporran McRash, Phhhhhd

Everyone has a Heuch inside them. The inner energy that some NY shrink will maintain is desperate to come out and will charge us accordingly!

The canny Scots found a cheaper outlet for their Heuchs – it is called Scottish Country Dancing!

For some unknown reason, men when dressed in plaid skirts, hands raised and a little pouch of seal skin banging them rhythmically in the Trossachs, they cannot help but let out a Heeeeuuuuch - a loud and thrilling guttural noise – an affirmation that their Scot’s blood is flowing in the proper direction!

Heuch Mor - The Great Highland Heuch

You might know it as the Rebel Yell that derives from Scots who emigrated to Texas and picked the loosing side in the Civil War (honest!) A derivative of the Great Highland Heuch (‘heucbh mor’) - this first heuch was heard around the highlands when a Clan Chief caught his Tam O’Shanter in the fly! They haven’t worn pants since!

It is not to be confused with the ‘Lame Lowland hiuk’ (note spelling) and the ‘Dreaded Sassenach Yelp’ which is more akin to the sound made when you successfully block a Doc Martin with your wedding tackle!

To heuch with Confidence is testament to a heart that feels, a sporran that swings freely and feet that are 2 inches off the ground!

It is not for those who think a ‘Highland Fling’ is a dirty weekend on the upper slopes of Moira Anderson!!

"To some it is a joy, to the musicians it is an encouragement to play faster. Sadly to a select few, it is an annoying barbaric cacophony! They are the Sporran Police and they must be stopped!"
